How SAFE Credit Union's Pandemic Skip-A-Pay can help you

Credit unions like SAFE Credit Union make it their mission to help members improve their financial well-being. As a not-for-profit financial collaborative, SAFE offers many services to our members that big banks won’t.

One of those services we’re offering during these particularly challenging times is the Pandemic Skip-A-Pay program. This program allows you to skip payments on certain loans to free up needed cash.

 

What is the Pandemic Skip-A-Pay program?

SAFE launched the Pandemic Skip-A-Pay program in response to the unique economic challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s designed to help members directly affected by the pandemic, including those who experienced health expenses and loss of income due to business closures.

The program allows members to skip up to two consecutive payments on their vehicle loans, personal loans, and credit card accounts. For auto and personal loans, the skipped payments are added to the end of the loan period, which may affect the payoff date and total finance charges may be  higher than originally disclosed. For credit card accounts, the balance due remains on the account. In all cases, interest continues to accrue during the Skip-A-Pay period.

 

How do I sign up?

You can easily sign up for Skip-A-Pay directly through SAFE’s Online Banking and Mobile App. You can also have one of our helpful representatives assist you in person at a branch or through our all-local call center at (800) SEE-SAFE.

  • Select “Additional Services”
  • Select “Skip-A-Pay”
  • Choose the loan you wish to skip a payment on

  • Log in to your account
  • Select “More”
  • Select “Skip-A-Pay”
  • Select the loan you wish to skip a payment on

 

What loans are eligible?

The Pandemic Skip-A-Pay program is offered for SAFE vehicle loans, personal loans, and credit card accounts.

 

What else should I know?
  • SAFE is waiving processing fees for the Pandemic Skip-A-Pay program.
  • Former skipped payments do not impact your ability to participate.
  • You will need to attest that you experienced financial losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic to qualify.
  • The account must be at least six months old and not more than 45 days past due at the time of your request
