Dozens of SAFE Credit Union members joined SAFE employees at the 2024 SacTown Run benefitting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
SAFE employees volunteered along the route assisting participants, while others put on their running shoes and participated in the various courses that wind through Downtown Sacramento beginning and ending at the Capitol Mall.
Every year since 2012, thousands of people have turned out for the event—hosted by Credit Unions for Kids and the Sacramento Running Association—raising nearly $2 million for the medical network that provides life-saving treatments and healthcare services for kids, as well as for financial assistance to families who otherwise could not afford health services.
“SacTown Run is a wonderful way for credit unions across the region to come together to support a really important cause,” says SAFE Credit Union Vice President of Community Relations and Financial Education Rebecca Delmundo. “Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals provide such an important service to so many families going through difficult situations.
Delmundo said she was excited to see so many SAFE members join the fundraising event. “We love inviting our members to stand with us as we help the community together,” she says. “Such collaboration demonstrates the credit union ideal of people helping people.”
Most recently, SAFE invited its members to bring toys and other gifts to SAFE branches for the annual Salvation Army Angel Tree program. “SAFE enjoys working together with our members to make a difference in their communities,” Delmundo says.
SAFE is a proud sponsor of SacTown Run. Dozens of our employees run and fundraise for the event every year, and more serve as volunteers. It’s just one of the many ways we support our community!
The event had courses for everyone, from a leisurely 1-mile route from the Capitol across the Tower Bridge, as well as 5K and 10-mile courses that wind through the heart of Sacramento.
