On May 5, something special is happening in the Sacramento area. During the tenth annual Big Day of Giving, people will give their hearts out to more than 700 local nonprofits. It’s a 24-hour focused-giving campaign that pours over $7 million each year into the efforts of local nonprofits that help make our community stronger.
Big Day of Giving provides another opportunity for SAFE and our community members to donate locally to organizations in our backyard. It also gives us a chance to thank our members for making donations when they use a SAFE Rewards Visa® credit card between May 1-May 7. Those donations will earn 10% cash back or 10x reward points*. And for every member donation made, SAFE will donate $5 to a local nonprofit organization chosen by SAFE employees, up to $10,000.
The Big Day of Giving campaign helps make an even bigger impact by not only creating a movement, but by helping donations “grow.” Several organizations and anonymous donors offer matching donations that day. Big Day of Giving, through the support of lead sponsors, offers cash prizes that are awarded throughout the campaign to participating nonprofits as an added cash boost.
Even though May 5 is the BIG day, donations can be scheduled now on the Big Day of Giving website. All donations will be included within the May 5 donation fundraising total. Big Day of Giving makes it easy to find a favorite local nonprofit or search by mission budget, operating budget, organization need, or demographics served.
