Help our community on Big Day of Giving

Each year something amazing happens in Greater Sacramento: thousands of people generously give millions of dollars to hundreds of nonprofits serving our community.

It’s the Big Day of Giving, a 24-hour “give-a-palooza” that encourages people to donate to charities of their choice.

This year Big Day of Giving will be on May 3.

SAFE Credit Union is proud to participate in this special event. This year we are donating $25,000 benefiting First Tee of Sacramento, the American Heart Association (Sacramento Division), United Way, American Heart Association, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Make a Wish.

What do you care most about? Is it helping kids achieve their dreams, connect with mentors or get on the path to college? How about helping organizations battle tragic illnesses such as ALS, Alzheimer’s disease, lung cancer or heart disease? Or helping those who need a home, health care or other essential needs get the assistance they need? Maybe you’re concerned about protecting animals and helping them find homes.  Or encouraging the Sacramento region’s robust arts scene.

Whatever you are passionate about, there’s an organization you can fund on this special day. Some nonprofits offer matching grants for Big Day of Giving, giving your generosity an extra boost. Big Day of Giving also offers prizes to nonprofits throughout the day to give them the financial resources to help the community even more.

The best news: you don’t have to wait until May 3 to make your donation. The Big Day of Giving website https://www.bigdayofgiving.org is already accepting donations that will be included in the May 3 totals.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Go to https://www.bigdayofgiving.org
  • Browse the hundreds of worthy community organizations. You can select by name, area of focus or by needs.
  • Donate at least $15 to one or more of the deserving nonprofits.

SAFE encourages our members – and all Greater Sacramento residents to join us in helping our community during the Big Day of Giving.

SAFE was founded on the notion of people helping people. We’re proud to support a generous list of nonprofits all year long, with an emphasis on organizations focused on health care, education, and veterans affairs.

In 2017, SAFE donated $300,000 to charitable organizations and our employees collectively volunteered more than 11,000 hours.

SAFE encourages our members — and all Greater Sacramento residents — to join us in helping our community during the Big Day of Giving by going to bigdayofgiving.org.
